42CrMo4 steel is a common chromium-molybdenum alloy steel accding to DIN standard,and 1.7225 steel is under W-Nr Germany standard.The carbon content of 42CrMo4 is higher than 25CrMo4 steel. DIN 1.7225 steel is usually used in the manufacture of forgings which require higher strength and heat treatment capabilities than 1.7218 steel.At the hardness of HRC18-22,DIN 1.7225 can be easily machined .42CrMo4 alloy steel also has high hardenability and good toughness.

42CrMo4 alloy steel is an excellent material for gears, piston pins, crankshafts,and shafts.It is commonly used for locomotive traction with the big gear, supercharger drive gear, rear axle, the load of connecting rod. DIN 1.7225 steel is widely used in a variety of applications in the oil and gas industry. Examples of applications for 42CrMo4 steel also include structural tubing,connection rods, stem assemblies, tool holders,Locomotive traction with the big gear, supercharger drive gear, rear axle, the load of connecting rod and a spring clip. DIN 1.7225 steel can also be used to under 2000m deep well of oil drill pipe joint and the fishing tool and so on.
1)Preheat 42CrMo4 alloy steel uniformly and slowly;
2)Increase the forging temperature up to 1150-1200°C.
3)Always keep the forging temperature above at least 850°C
1)Heating DIN 1.7225 forged steel slowly to the temperature 840-860°C;
2)DIN 42CrMo4 alloy steel should be quenched in the oil;
3)Heat the steel to the temperature 550-650°C;
4)Soak at this temperature for 2 hours per 25mm of total thickness;
5)42CrMo4 steel can be cooled in the air or furnace;
6)Quenched and tempered and after stress relieved.
After QT,a straightening process is necessary then the products should be tempered and distorsion-poor annealed.
1)Heat DIN 42CrMo4 alloy steel slowly and thoroughly to 800-850°C;
2)Cool slowly in the furnace to the temperature around 500°C;
3)Complete annealing the 1.7225 steel in the air.
1)Increase the temperature up to 860-880°C;
2)Cool 1.7225 steel down to room temperature(20°C) in the air.
