SAE 4130 is a chromium molybdenum alloy steel as per AISI / ASTM American standard.It is machineable in the condition of 18-22HRC. AISI 4130 steel contains a lower carbon content but provides better weldability comparing with 4140 steel.It is frequently applied to the gas & oil area.

6.AISI 4130 Steel Applications
4130 steel is an excellent material for gears, crankshafts and shafts. Examples of applications for 4130 steel include structural tubing,connection rods, stem assemblies, tubes for transportation of pressurized gases.It is also commonly used for a variety of applications in the oil and gas area.
1)Preheat 4130 alloy steel uniformly and slowly;
2)Increase the forging temperature up to 1200°C.
3)Always keep the forging temperature of AISI 4130 above 950°C
1)Heating AISI 4130 forged steel slowly to the temperature 840-880°C;
2)SAE 4130 alloy steel should be quenched in the oil;
3)Heat the steel to the temperature around 560°C;
4)Soak at this temperature for 2 hours per 25mm of total thickness;
5)4130 steel can be cooled in air or inside the furnace;
6)Quenched and tempered and after stress relieved.
1)Heat AISI 4130 alloy steel slowly and thoroughly to 800°C;
2)Cool slowly in the furnace to the temperature about 500°C;
3)Complete annealing the 4130 steel in the air.
1)Increase the temperature of 4130 alloy steel to 880°C;
2)Cool 4130 steel down to room temperature in the air.
