1.3202 steel is a high performance Tungsten-Cobalt tool steel according to W-Nr standard,and S12-1-4-5 steel is as per DIN Germany standard. DIN 1.3202 tool steel is similar to 1.3302 high-speed steel but with added 5% cobalt.The high Vanadium content gives the steel the best cutting performance and durability.The Cobalt content offers high tempering durability and hot hardness.

5.DIN 1.3202 HSS Steel Applications
1.3202 steel has proved particularly beneficial in cases where hard materials being processed cause a high degree of wear of the cutting surface, and where the cutting surface is at an elevated temperature. S12-1-4-5 steel is used in heavy-duty operations,turning knives, milling cutters for rough machining, smoothing,etc.
1)Preheat din S12-1-4-5 tool steel uniformly and slowly to 860-880°C.
2)Increase the forging temperature up to 1150-1200°C.
3)1.3202 steel should be cooled very slowly after forging.
W-Nr 1.3202 tool steel should be annealed after hot working. Increase the temperature of S12-1-4-5 high speed steel to 850°C(Max220°C per hour). Hold at the temperature and then cool slowly with the furnace. The annealed hardness achieved should be below 269HB.
1)Preheat the S12-1-4-5 hss steel to 500°C ;
2)Then increase the temperature until 880-900°C;
3)Heating the hardening temperature around 1180°C;
4)Din 1.3202 high speed steel must be heated throughly;
5)Quench in the warm oil,and then complete the quench;
6)S12-1-4-5 tool steel is always suitable for vacuum hardening.
1)Temper 1.3202 high speed steel immediately after quenching;
2)Heat thoroughly and uniformly to the tempering temperature;
3)Hold for at least two hours (one hour per about 25mm);
4)Triple tempering is strongly recommended for S12-1-4-5 tool steel.
