1.3243 steel is a Cobalt-Type high speed tool steel according to W-Nr standard,and HS6-5-2-5 steel is as per DIN Germany standard.W-Nr 1.3243 is similar to 1.3343 high-speed steel but with added 5% cobalt.Special heat treating process will bring latent properties of 1.3243 tool steel into full play and obviously improve its strength and toughness.The hardness can reach 66 HRC in the general heat treatment. HS6-5-2-5 tool steel also offers excellent cutting performance.

6.W-Nr 1.3243 HSS Steel Applications
1)DIN HS6-5-2-5 steel is used in cutting tools:broaches,saw blades,reamers,milling cutters and end mills.
2)1.3243 steel is a good quality wear resistant steel grade.
3)It’s also commonly used in tools which has high demands for heat resistance.
7.DIN HS6-5-2-5 Steel Forging
1)Preheat 1.3243 tool steel uniformly and slowly to about 480°C;
2)Heat the forging temperature up to 950-1050°C;
3)The forging temperature must not below 950°C;
4)HS6-5-2-5 tool steel should be cooled very slowly.
HS6-5-2-5 steel should be annealed after hot working. And re annealing is necessary if the 1.3243 tool steel has been hot worked, forged, or hardened.Increase the temperature of hs6-5-2-5 high speed steel to 850°C. Hold at the temperature for one hour per 25mm of thickness,then cool slowly in the furnace. The annealed hardness achieved should be less than 255HB.
Hardening(in a vacuum,controlled furnace, or salt bath)
1)Preheat 1.3243 hss steel to 500°C ;
2)Increase the temperature to 860°C;
3)Heating the hardening temperature to 1050-1200°C;
4)The HS6-5-2-5 tool steel component should be heated throughly;
5)Transfer DIN 1.3243 steel to the high temperature salt bath or vacuum furnace;
1)Heat thoroughly and uniformly to the tempering temperature;
2)Temper 1.3243 tool steel immediately after quenching;
3)Triple tempering is strongly recommended;
4)Cooled DIN HS6-5-2-5 tool steel in the air to 20°C.
