W-Nr 1.3243 HSS is similar to 1.3343 high-speed steel but with added 5% cobalt.The hardness can reach 66 HRC in the general heat treatment. 1.3243 steel also offers excellent cutting performance superior to 1.3343 tool steel.For this property,DIN 1.3243 is also known as HSS-E. 1.3243 HSS Steel is Tungsten-Molybdenum high speed steel which contains cobalt. It improve the red hardness,high temperature hardness and wear resistance, but with lower strength and impact toughness.

5.W-Nr 1.3243 HSS Applications
1)Widely used in kinds of cutting tools，such as broaches, saw blades,reamers,milling cutters and end mills.
2)1.3243 tool steel is a good quality wear resistant steel grade for cold-work applications.
3)Commonly used in tools which has exact demands for heat resistance.
6.HSS Steel Forging
1)Preheat 1.3243 high speed steel uniformly and slowly to 450-500°C;
2)Heat the forging temperature up to 950-1100°C;
3)The forging temperature must not below 950°C;
4)DIN 1.3243 high speed tool steel should be cooled very slowly.
1.3243 steel is usually annealed after hot working. And re annealing will be necessary if the 1.3243 tool steel has been hot worked, forged, or hardened.Increase the temperature of 1.3243 high speed steel to 850°C. Hold at the temperature for one hour per 25mm of thickness and then furnace cool slowly. The annealed hardness achieved should be less than 25HRC.
Hardening(in a vacuum,controlled furnace, or salt bath)
1)Preheat 1.3243 HSS too steel to 450-500°C ;
2)Increase the temperature to 820-880°C;
3)Heating the hardening temperature to 1050-1250°C;
4)The 1.3243 high speed steel component must be heated through;
5)Transfer 1.3243 tool steel to the high temperature salt bath or vacuum furnace;
1)Heat thoroughly and uniformly to the tempering temperature(between 510-620°C);
2)Temper 1.3243 hss immediately after quenching;
3)Triple tempering is strongly recommended;
4)Cooled DIN 1.3243 HSS in the air to room temperature.
