1.3247 steel is a cobalt-molybdenum high speed steel according to W-Nr standard,and S2-10-1-8 steel is as per DIN Germany standard.With an additional 8% cobalt,It achieves a higher hardness and superior hot hardness.The hardness of 1.3247 tool steel can be 68-70 HRC after the heat treatment. Tools made from S2-10-1-8 tool steel have an excellent toughness & cutting performance.

W-Nr 1.3247 steel is suitable for manufacturing various strong cutting tools with wear-resistant,resistant to impact.DIN S2-10-1-8 steel is widely used in advanced punching die,screw die,the toughness and complicated shape of the punch,etc.
1)Preheat 1.3247 high speed steel uniformly to 650-750°C;
2)Increase the forging temperature to 1050-1150°C;
3)Always keep the temperature of the material above 970°C during the forging;
4)Cool the S2-10-1-8 high speed steel after forging.
1.3247 hss steel should be annealed after hot working,and before re hardening is recommend.Heat S2-10-1-8 hss steel to 850°C. Keep at the temperature for one hour per 25mm of whole thickness,then cool in the furnace slowly.The annealed hardness achieved should not be higher than HB269.
Hardening (in a vacuum,atmosphere furnace, or salt bath)
1)Pre heat DIN 1.3247 steel to 850°C ;
2)Transfer the steel to the high temperature salt bath or furnace;
3)Heat the hardening temperature to 1180°C;
5)Quench S2-10-1-8 steel into salt at 550-600°C,then complete the quench in the air.
1)Heat thoroughly and uniformly to the tempering temperature 550-660°C;
2)Triple tempering is strongly advised for 1.3247 tool steel.
3)S2-10-1-8 tool steel should be cooled to the room temperature in the air(20°C).
