1.3247 HSS is a cobalt-molybdenum high speed tool steel with an additional 8% cobalt.It achieves a high hardness and superior hot hardness.With the high heat treated,the hardness of 1.3247 tool steel will up to 70 HRC. Tools made from 1.3247 high speed steel get an excellent toughness & cutting performance. It is usually used in machine tool bits,cutting tools, drill bits and cold forming tools.

1.3247 High-speed steel is usually used in conditions that require a great hot hardness. It is suitable for drill bits,broaches, milling tools, reamers,and also fit for cold-work tools.
1)Preheat 1.3247 high speed steel uniformly to 650-750°C;
2)Increase the forging temperature to 1050-1150°C quickly;
3)Keep the temperature of the material above 970°C during the forging;
4)Cool the 1.3247 HSS after forging slowly.
1.3247 steel should be annealed after hot working,and before re hardening is recommend.Heat the material to 850°C. Keep at the temperature for one hour per 25mm of thickness,then furnace cool slowly.The annealed hardness achieved should not be higher than 269 Brinell.
Hardening (in a vacuum,atmosphere furnace, or salt bath)
1)Pre heat 1.3247 hss steel to 850°C ;
2)Transfer the steel to the high temperature salt bath or furnace;
3)Heat the hardening temperature to 1180°C;
5)Quench 1.3247 hss steel into salt at 550-600°C,then complete the quench in the air.
1)Heat thoroughly and uniformly to the tempering temperature 550-660°C;
2)Triple tempering is strongly advised for 1.3247 tool steel.
3)The material should be cooled to the room temperature in the air.
